Tony Sertich was appointed by Governor Newsom in September 2025 as the Executive Director of the California Housing Finance Agency, the state’s affordable housing lender. Sertich previously served as the Assistant Deputy Director of the Division of State Financial Assistance at the Department of Housing and Community Development (2022-2025); Deputy State Controller focused on housing (2019-2022); and various roles at CalHFA, including Financing Risk Manager, Director of Multifamily Programs and Director of Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance, from 2004 to 2018. Sertich earned a bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley.
