Investment in Mental Health Wellness Grant Program for Children and Youth Grant Helps Santa Cruz County Open a Mobile Crisis Support Team
The County of Santa Cruz recently opened its Mobile Emergency Response Team for Youth (MERTY), an office on wheels providing mental health crisis intervention for children and youth ages five to 21, in the south part of the County. The County was approved to receive funds through the Investment in Mental Health Wellness Grant Program for Children and Youth to develop a Mobile Crisis Support Team to provide access and timely connection to mental health crisis services for children and youth. These field-based assessments and interventions will initially eliminate the need to seek emergency department care, unless otherwise needed, and will help clients navigate through community-based mental health services.
